Located in Songjiang University Town, Shanghai University of Engineering Science (SUES) library (hereinafter called the library) has been officially put into use from October，2005. With a total floor area of over 27 thousands square meters, it has 6 reading rooms integrated with book borrowing and reading、1 periodical room、1 student reading room、1 information commons room and 1 compact stack. With more than 2760 seats in reading rooms, it is operated with open-shelves access and it has realized wireless internet access inside the library and VPN log-in outside of it.

The library has collected literatures & documents involving various research fields based on our university’s discipline layout of “Engineering science takes the lead and reinforced with the economic management and art design”. Currently owned a stock of over 1.81 million volumes and about 3280 kinds of periodical subscriptions in Chinese and in foreign languages, library has strengthened the construction of digital library. With the access to 1,632,300 kinds of digital literature, library also has purchased 48 databases in home and abroad, in which in Chinese it includes CNKI、Wanfang、Superstar Search、Superstar Journals and etc., and in foreign languages includes IEEE、ACS、SCIFinder、ASME、Springer Link、EBSCO Host、Emerald、Ei、PQDD、Web of Science、CIDP、ESI、JCR、Incites and so on. There are also multimedia databases, for example, wsbgt(Online Lectureroom)、Kuk Digital Music library、Global English Multimedia Database and etc.

  Library of Shanghai University of Engineering Science is a teaching-research and service-oriented library with all-round functions、multiple forms of document、advanced facilities and a rational team of professional working staffs. The distinct characteristics of our library for serving the teaching and research, serving the discipline construction and graduate degree construction, serving Shanghai economy construction and serving the university construction with features has come into being.

Library has consistently pursued the discipline of “ Reader Orientation、Service Goes First” and has embraced with various modernized service methods to provide quality service. Our service includes but not limited to: book circulation、copy and scanning of collected materials、Inter-library loan、document delivery、novelty retrieval of science and technology、information retrieval in database、online video playing、 lectures、expert forum and so on.
